Think you can swig like a real sailor? Prove it. Join us and celebrate with Black Tot, the rum Royal Navy sailors drank on board ship for over 300 years.

Black Tot Day: A Brief History

In the days of “wooden ships and iron men,” Royal Navy sailors were issued a daily “tot” of rum on board ship. The tradition of the daily tot was celebrated for over 300 years up until the 31st of July 1970, now known as Black Tot Day, when it was abolished by the Admiralty. July 31 1970, the day the Royal Navy discontinued sailors' daily rum ration, is known as Black Tot Day. The remaining rum sat in storage for many years before being bought by Specialty Drinks Ltd in order to create Black Tot. It's a blend of those rums, celebrating years of naval tradition and offering drinkers a chance to try a true British Navy Rum.
